The pianist LEE KWAN-SHIK, who delivers a sophisticated melody based on his excellent musical interpretation and deep expressive ability, received a Bachelor Degree with merit scholarship and academic achievement from the Kyungwon University (currently Gachon University), and he graduated the Performer Diploma with excellent grades from Indiana University of Bloomington. He also received a Graduate Scholarship from the University of Cincinnati and graduated the Mater of Music and Artist Diploma, and received a full scholarship and studied Doctoral of Musical Arts at the University of Hartford (ABD).
At his University period, He has won numerous awards in Korea and has performed plentiful solo appearance, concerto stages, and accompanying performances such places as, the Sejong Concert Hall for the Performing Arts, Gwachun Citizens’ Hall, Youngsan Art Hall and Warsaw Chopin Museum in Warsaw to broaden his musical spectrum and to develop his skills as a professional musician.
After moving to USA for studying, He was awarded the University of Hartford chamber music group ’20 / 20 ‘, Best of Chamber Music, Evelyn Boner Storrs Piano Scholarship Fund, and got 1st prize and best Asian performer for Concurso de Piano del Internacional de Musica de Barcelona Ciutat in Spain. He also participated and performed in numerous master classes held in Belgium, Czech Republic and Spain, as well as other international music festivals. In addition to more than 10 solo recitals in the United States, hosted solo Recitals in Spain, and several solo appearances in Europe and Asia. Over 30 concerts have been held in the USA, such as Young Artist Recitals, Cincinnati Korean Concerts, Prism Concert, and Chamber Group ’20 / 20 ‘concerts He has shown his passions for music through solo and duo, chamber music ensemble stages.
After returning to KOREA, he has been invited to the Home Coming Recital of Sejong Chamber Hall in 2009. He has performed the Beethoven Sonata Complete Music Series, the Liszt Etude Complete Music Series, and the Korea-China contemporary music festival, the ‘Sorimok’ 30th regular presentation of the Contemporary music series, the festival 200th anniversary of Haydn’s death and the 200th anniversary of Mendelssohn’s birth, Myungji piano duo concert, Korean music professor council concert, seraphim ensemble concert, and regular concert KlavierSOUL, which were held in Sungnam Art Center, Seoul Arts Center Recital Hall, KT Chamber Hall, and Ilshin hall. He has performed solo recital every single year after home coming recital, and created meaningful stages by selecting characteristic themes and various repertoires for each performance. In 2015 solo recital ‘Beyond Happiness’, 2017 solo recital ‘Emotions’, and 2018 solo Recital ‘Beethoven Piano Sonatas’ were held at the IBK Chamber hall in Seoul Arts Center, Sejong Chamber Hall, and Kumho Arthall and selected for stipends from Arts Council of KOREA. Also concerto stages were held with Sejong Philharmonic orchestra and Ulsan Namgulip Symphony Orchestra.
He was a teaching Assistant for Prof. Luiz de Moura Castro Studio at University of Hartford and member of Chamber Group ’20/20’ at University of Hartford. He is a former visiting assistant professor at the graduate school of MuyngJi University. He had been taught in Gachon University, Konkuk University undergraduate and graduate Music school, Seoul Theological University, and Myungji College as an adjunct lecture, as well as a visiting assistant professor. He is also a member of the three-pianist group ‘KlavierSOUL’. He has moved to Malaysia in year of 2020, and currently invited as an Artist in Residence in Dominus Music hall at Fairview International School.
