Fan Ran 

Fan Ran is one of the founder members of the YZR chamber music. She has been working as a viola member of Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra for over 11 years. Prior to this, she worked as a freelancer with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, She was invited to join SSO tour which covered Germany, UK and China.

Fan Ran has extensive experience in orchestra playing, chamber music, solo performance and teaching. During her 11 years tenure with the MPO, she performed in many concerts, outreach programmes and also taught many students.

Fan was admitted to the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore with a full scholarship. She studied under Professor Zhang Manqin. Fan was the principal viola and principal school orchestra at the Singapore Olympic Games. On behalf of Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, Fan went to the United States for an exchange performance with Peabody School and played chamber music at the Carnegie Hall.

Born in He Nan Zheng Zhou of  China, Fan Ran started to learn the violin when she was 4 years old. She entered the WuHan Conservatory of Music at the age of 9 study under professor Zhang Jin Zhou. She was educated in Central Conservatory of Music, studying viola under Professor Wing Ho. Fan also participated in the China Viola Competition in 2003 and won the 3rd prize.
