Ling Yunzhi 

Ling Yunzhi is member of YZR Chamber Music, an adjunct lecturer of University College Fairview and a violin artist at Dominus Arts Venue.

Prior to her engagement with the University College Fairview, she was a member of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra for over 11 years. During this tenure, she participated in several concert tours including the MPO’s Japan tour in 2009. Before joining the MPO, Yunzhi worked as a freelancer in the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and was also invited to perform in their China concert tour.

Yunzhi studied with renowned violinist Professor Qian Zhou, Head of Strings of Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore. Under Professir Qian Zhou’s tutelage, Yunzhi won the Gisborne international Music Competition in 2006 and the Yong Siew Toh Concerto Competition (Second Prize). During her studies there, she assisted Prof Qian Zhou as a Teacher Assistant.

Yunzhi is well experienced in orchestra playing, chamber music, solo performance, teaching, outreach programmes and took part in many music festivals. In year 2021, she founded the YZR Chamber Music and was selected to perform a chamber concert with Yong Siew Toh Conservatory Faculty in 2009. As a soloist, she has performed with the Singapore Chinese Orchestra. Her talent in violin playing has also brought her to solo recitals in New Zealand as a soloist with Christ Church Symphony Orchestra. In 2008, she attended the Aspen Music Festival, under fellowship of world renowned violinist Mr Cho-liang Lin and Masao Kawasaki. She has also performed with the American Academy of Conducting Orchestra. In 2007, Yunzhi gave her chamber trip to Royal Northern College of Music and performed chamber concerts and solo performances in Cambridge. Yunzhi was awarded a two-year Dean’s list from NUS National University of Singapore and Student Achievement Award in 2007.

Born in Chengdu China, Yunzhi started to learn the violin when she was 3 and half years old and was educated in Shanghai Conservatory of Music from 1993.
